Key Features

New to the site is the idea of Key Features for products. These are probably like the old VOC field on steroids. They are quick, precise features of why someone would want to buy the product.

The easiest way to bulk update key features at this time is to use the admin display at admin/products/update/key-features. You can create new blocks or reuse existing blocks (this seemed logical to enable considering all of a certain product might have the same feature).

Edit in a single node

  1. Go to the node that you want to add/edit key features.
  2. Click on the edit button.
  3. Navigate to the Key Features and Overview tab
  4. Click on either Add new content block or Add existing content block (see below for details)
  5. Make sure to save the page after adding the blocks.

Adding a new content block

  1. Click on Add a new content block
  2. A window will open with the minimum fields needed for this card:
Field name Description
Media uses the same media browser as used elsewhere.
Block Description This is an administrative field and will be helpful if you want to reuse this block.
Card Title a short title/headline. Keep it very brief. 20-30 characters
Text what is important or interesting about this key feature

 

Adding an existing content block

  1. Click on Add an existing content block
  2. An autocomplete field will appear
  3. start typing what you think the description of the block might have been. It doesn't have to be very accurate, this will search through the contents of the description field
  4. Select the block that you want to use
  5. Click Add content block
  6. Save the page

 

Edit in the bulk-editing tool

This is a tiny bit clunkier than an Excel spreadsheet, but it is the best UI that we can get between a MarCom's brain and the site. If needed, we can submit a sheet to the content editor and they can enter cards, but this shouldn't be much more effort than populating a spreadsheet.

  1. Go to admin/products/update/key-features (this will be updated when the site is in production).
  2. Search/filter as needed to find the product(s) that need to have cards added or revised.
  3. Follow the instructions for editing or adding existing cards from above.

You can edit as many as you like in one page, but don't change pages*. When you are done editing, make sure to click Save at the bottom of the page.

*This is not confirmed,actually. It used to be a thing that if you switched pages, you couldn't save from the previous page, but it might have changed.)
