Firmware/Software updates include any software that is not OneQA.

The site can hold files up to 100MB, but there are times that we need to upload files larger than that. If the file is larger than 100MB, follow the Upload to AWS steps below before continuing.

Update or create a new software page

  1. If there is already a piece of content for this software, find the content in the Content overview page.
  2. If there is not a piece of content for this software, create a new one by going to Content » Add content » Software
  3. If you uploaded the file to AWS, update the Big File field first so you don't lose the link from your clipboard
    1. Paste the URL that was copied from the AWS container in the Big File: URL field.
    2. Enter Download in the Big File: Link text field
  4. Add or update the title for the Software page. You can use this same title for the H1 title and the Software File Name
  5. Add or update the Description, Requirements, Warning, Release Notes, or Installation Prerequisites, enter in the respective fields.
  6. If new content, select the Software type
  7. If new content, select Downloads for the Search Category
  8. If new content, select the Product Category
  9. Add or update any related products
  10. Click Save at the top of the page

Upload to AWS

If you do not have an AWS account, contact one of the web developers and they can set up an account for you.

  • Rename the file. Sometimes the name of the files contain extraneous information that isn't necessary for the person downloading the file. Double check with the person that you got the file from if you can revise the name to a more friendly name. A simple name like esa71x-update-3.7.zip should be sufficient.
  • Log in to AWS
  • Navigate to the software upload page.
  • Click Add Files to select the file to be uploaded
  • Select the file to be uploaded in the file browser
  • Under Permissions (a dropdown at the bottom of this page), change to Specify Individual ACL permissions.
  • Check the box for Read for Everyone. We want anyone to be able to download this file.
  • Check the box for I understand the effects of these changes on the specified objects.
  • Click Upload.
  • After the file has been uploaded you can click the yellow Close button.
  • Navigate to the file container by clicking on the file name
  • Copy the link for the Object URL in the right column. Use the full URL, not the URI.
