Product Category
Content editors are welcome to edit category pages, but in general, they would not be creating new category pages.
Previously, Product categories were displayed as a taxonomy. They are still as a taxonomy, but they are also content so that content editors can add better, rich content to the pages.
The product category page contains several default areas, but can also have custom areas added with Layout Builder components.
If you want to edit a category page, it is easiest to navigate to the category page that you want to edit, but you can also find them in admin/content and filtering the content type by Product Category.
The portions of the category page that you can edit directly are the title and description. The products and product comparison chart are edited on the product pages.
Product comparison chart
- Products appear in the comparison chart if they have any specifications that are marked as Compare.
- Specifications are in order of the first product in the list.
- Products are in order based on the Comparison sorter.
If the product comparison chart has issues, here are some common fixes:
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Isn't showing the product title or teaser | Check the Comparison Sorter to make sure they are ordered. |
| Isn't showing specs in the right order | Check the Comparison Sorter to make sure they are ordered. |
| The specs are split into different lines | Double check that the exact same specifications are being selected. Sometimes, there will be a misspelling and duplicate attributes get added to the list. |
Product Listing after comparison chart
- All other products that are current mainframes display in the rest of the list.
- Products are sorted by the Comparison Sorter
- Products can be edited on their individual product page or with the QuickEdit link on the page.
- The QuickEdit link shows only the fields that are displayed on the category page.

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | The title of the page. This is used for building the url. |
| H1 Title | The title of the page as it exists on the page. This can contain special characters and punctuation. This is also used in SEO |
| H1 Title Plural | The title is sometimes used in places where a list of many of these might appear. This makes it easier for us to pluralize the titles since it might not be consistent. |
| Description |
The description of the category that displays at the top of the page NOTE: there is also a Summary portion of this field that is displayed where a shorter description is used. If this is not populated, the site will use a trimmed version of the description. |
| Teaser Image | A 3:2 aspect ratio image depicting the category. This is displayed on the product family page. |
| Brand | The brand that this product is related to. In theory, this field is pre-populated and hidden until this instance becomes a multi-instance. |
| Product category | Related taxonomy for this category. The category taxonomy is what relates content from other types to each other. |
