Checking 35080x Battery Voltage

Information in this article applies to

Models 35080, 35080-1, 35080A, 35090B when used with Model 35050A Dosimeter.

Summary

Lack of kV output can be traced to low batteries in the Model 35080x Non-invasive kVp divider. The battery condition can be checked using the Model 35050A.

Resolution

  1. Attach the 35080x to the 35050A kV input.
  2. Turn on the 35080x.
  3. Turn on the 35050A.
  4. Wait for all the start up screens on the 35050A to complete.
  5. Press the Detector Select button so the cursor is on the bottom line. Note the current selection.
  6. Press the Up button until the bottom line changes to 50-150 filter pack.
  7. Press the Units Select button. Note the current selection.
  8. Press the Up button until the top line changes to either A, R/s, or Gy/s.
  9. Press the Reset/Measure button.
  10. On the 35080x, change the switch position to BAT CHK.
  11. On the 35050A, the screen should change to kV battery voltage. If it does not, replace the battery in the kV divider. If the battery voltage is below 7.4 volts, replace the battery.
  12. On the 35080x, change the switch position to RUN. The display on the 35050A should return to a normal measurement screen.
  13. Press the Detector Select button. Set the filter pack to match the filter pack installed in the kV divider.
  14. Press the Units Select button and return the units setting to the units appropriate for the measurement you wish to make.
